Sometimes that’s all it takes… a fresh pair of eyes to look at a problem and see the obvious resolution. Of course, it doesn’t hurt when those eyes are connected to a genius brain, and backed up with a Masters degree in Computer Science.
I sent an email to my friend Dan last night, explaining my problem with the blog pointing to the wrong static page, instead of the usual list of posts. I asked him if he could take a look at the code and see if there was something that was overriding the setting that was supposed to point the blog properly. I told him how I had been beating my head against the wall for days with this problem. How I had been reading online for solutions. How I was getting frustrated. How if he didn’t have time, I understood. Not to spend too much time on it, but I would appreciate a fresh perspective… especially since coding is not my thing at all.
I’m pretty sure that it took me longer to type my email to him than it did for him to fix it!
No sooner had I sent the email, that I got one back saying “I fixed it. You had a root”/” redirection…” Umm.. ok… I don’t know how I managed to do that, but he saw it and removed it. Voila! Everything back and working again.
Many thanks, Dan. I owe ya one!
