Cirque du Soleil: Quidam … Holy Wow, Batman!

Published July 15, 2011 - 1 Comment

I’ve seen bits and pieces of different Cirque du Soleil shows on television from time to time.  Let me tell you something… that in no way gives you any idea what to expect when you see one in person!  To say “Wow!” doesn’t even do it justice.  There were times last night when I just sat there shaking my head.  I could barely believe what I saw.  Times that I didn’t clap, not because I was being rude, but I was just mesmerized by what was going on.

There is so much going on that it’s almost impossible to take it all in.  I’d be staring at one performer, and barely even aware that there were others in various parts of the stage who had come on to do their own thing.  It’s pure chaos, but somehow it works.  The blend of comedy and pure physical mastery, along with colour, music, and dance… it’s truly mind boggling.  I can’t believe that they’ve been here twice already, and I have not gone to see their show.  I don’t care what I have to do next time.  If they come back again, I am going!  The 2 hour show is well worth the $69 ticket price.

I’ve tried to find some video online to share with you.  As amazing as it may seem… really… if you ever get the chance to see it live… you’ve got to go!

A special thank you to Karen for knowing that I would love this show, even if I wasn’t completely convinced that I needed to see it.  She was right!

There had been YouTube videos linked in this post, but guess what?  YouTube must have taken them down…. Boo…  🙁

This is how the show started.  I guess it’s supposed to be about a girl’s dream…  It’s one crazy dream!

The German Wheel was one of the first performances.  Amazing… and it only got better and better throughout the show!

Evidently these girls do not share my fear of heights!

Watch these girls “juggle” (I don’t even know what the right word is) those …     and at the end of this clip, even the guy walking through the air… It was so absolutely perfect that I thought there had to be something under his feat when he first came out!

The clowns were hilarious.  They also brought up people from the audience, but you don’t see that in these clips.

The start of this clip shows more clowns, but this was not part of the show that I saw.  I’m including it because near the 4 minute mark a girl comes on.  You need to watch that part.  The strength of these people is ridiculous!

And speaking of strength… you have to watch this one!  This was one of those “I can’t believe what I’m seeing” moments…  you could hear a pin drop…

This blew me away… it’s the finale… I think Karen said it best afterwards… “Those girls do not have any trust issues!”

I know that I’ve said it way too many times… but…  AMAZING SHOW!
