So last week it was reported that some stores in the USA were pulling Cosmo from their shelves this month because the current cover showed a little too much of Glee star Lea Michele.
Please correct me if I’m wrong… but doesn’t Cosmo always picture an attractive well-known actress provocatively on their cover? So the problem this month isn’t that there is a woman wearing a plunging neckline on the cover… the problem is who that woman happens to be?
Get over it, people! Lea Michele is a 24 year old actress who just so happens to play a highschool student on television. But have you actually seen that television show? It’s not exactly Mr Rogers Neighbourhood. If you’re ok with letting your kid watch some of the same-sex kissing (male and female) that has taken place, along with other possibly questionable behaviour, then you really don’t have much of a leg to stand on when a beautiful young woman appears on the cover of a magazine intended for adults portraying herself, and not her alter-ego highschool-aged character.
And don’t get me wrong. I love Glee. I think that it’s hilarious, and they manage to address some very important social topics within the context of their comedy. I just think that there is a certain demographic that needs to relax a little, and maybe take their heads out of their asses.
Stop demonizing people because their beliefs may differ from your own. Thank you.
