I’d heard recently that my area was now included in Google’s Street View. I went looking, and lo and behold, yup… it’s quite neat to be able to see what the place looks like. I looked up a few of my past living establishments. You have to play with the addresses a little bit, I found. If I wanted number 49 of a particular street, it took me to that street, and said that it was number 49, but in reality it showed me a view from 102 or something like that. That happened in 3 of the 4 addresses that I looked up. Only one was bang on perfect.
Unbelievably, even the house that I’m in right now is included in Street View. I figured that I’d be so far out town that there wouldn’t be any chance that it would be there. I guess I was wrong! Someone must’ve enjoyed going for a drive that day. I only wish that the damn crows hadn’t ripped the garbage bags apart on the day that Google went through. It’s not the way I’d like people to see the property.
Sure, some people have some legitimate privacy concerns around the Street View project… those aside, it is kinda neat to be able to show people who might not live around here, what they’re missing.
