When I’m in my night shifts, it changes how I think about my “day” though. At some point last night, I opened a can of cashews that I had bought a couple of days ago. I know that cashews aren’t exactly what I should be eating, but I had already bought them, and wasn’t about to let them sit there. But what I did tell myself is that I would take it easy with them. It’s not unusual for me to open a can on my night shift and have them gone before the 12 hours is over. And almost always Coke is invited to the party. Not this time. There was no Coke. I did eat more of the tasty little nuts than I wanted to, but I put the can away when it reached the halfway point.
When I woke up in the afternoon, I decided to settle on chicken finger fillets, and french fries. I know that this doesn’t sound overly healthy, but c’mon… I just got up, and I didn’t have much time to get to work. I still have to eat. Everything was baked in the toaster oven, so it’s not like they were deep fried. I’ve told myself that I can not eat salad every day. It’s just not possible. But what I did do was to cut the portion down significantly. I had 2 fillets (rather than 3) and a very small number of french fries. I figure that’s not too bad. Then I packed my lunch to bring into work with me.
You can see a picture of it below. Yup.. no McDonalds… no Subway… that’s the same salad that I made the other night, and I think that it will tide me over quite nicely. I did finish off the rest of the cashews, but again… no Coke. I expect the caffeine headaches to start in another 2-3 days. Not looking forward to them. And yes.. that’s baby spinach in there.. my new favourite thing 🙂
