Mactaquac: The Big Branch

Published August 6, 2011 - 6 Comments

I decided to take the kids camping last week.  I’m not much of a camper, but it’s still fun.  The provincial park, Mactaquac isn’t too far from where I live, and it’s quite nice.  We only stayed for 2 days, but the kids had a great time.  I should also mention that my friend Karen was with us..  thankfully!  She’s a hell of a lot better at setting up a tent than I am!  You’d think that 10 years in the Reserves would give me an edge in that department.  Nope!

It was nice to (partially) unplug for those days.  I still had my cellphone, so I was able to send a couple of tweets by txting… until the battery died.  Maybe not the best use of my limited battery power, but ah well… Someday I’ll have my iPhone back, and things will be better.

I wonder what it’s like for those families who live in the parks for the summer?  I saw some pretty intense setups while I was there.

Nothing lasts forever.
