Remember When Taylor Swift WASN’T Annoying?

I’ll admit it… there was a time when I defended Taylor Swift.  It was a simpler time back then.  I generally liked her music.  Her songs would appear in my Top 25 from time to time.  I thought the lyrics to Dear John were particularly endearing in a “John Mayer is a Douchebag Kinda Way”.  I affectionately referred to her as Swifty.

But at some point this all seemed to quickly wear off.  I’m not sure if it was the constant churn of celebrity boyfriends or the incessant string of anti-ex boyfriend songs that followed each and every one of them… but somewhere along the line Swifty turned into Crazy…

If Justin Bieber is the most over-reported musician, Taylor Swift must be a solid second place contender.  I can’t stand seeing her name in headlines… “Taylor Swift spotted with ________ ”   Who cares?  It’s a different name every couple of months.  And then there’s the music… just look at a few of the song titles to grace the album covers… Mean, You’re Not Sorry, Should’ve Said No, I Knew You Were Trouble, Better Than Revenge, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together… Never, ever, ever, ever…  c’mon girl… grow up.  Not EVERY song can be about how much you hate your ex-boyfriend, or the girl who took him.  There’s a certain lack of maturity in Swift’s music that even I find annoying.

And that’s saying something.
