Welcome to the First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Published July 10, 2010 - 1 Comment

So today was back to work day…  Gotta love that.  A nice Saturday shift to try to ease back into things.  Saturdays are generally slow, right?  Not today!  Today we were short-staffed (which probably can’t be called “short” anymore, since it seems to be the norm nowadays) which just meant trying to do more with less.  I think that Microsoft used that slogan once with one of their software releases.  It seems to have caught on.

But it wasn’t all craziness, and in between the bouts of trying to put out fires I discovered that I can limit who can read the blog.  Sure, I could always make it a private affair, but that’s not what I want.  I’d like it to be open… but there are certain situations where limiting who can read it might be something to consider.  I’m still working through the thought process on how best to implement this.

It’s extremely quiet in the house now.  The kids are back with their mother.  The roomie is at work.  There’s not even any music playing, and that’s very unusual.  I’m getting caught up on dishes and laundry.  The place looks like 2 small tornadoes went through, leaving a general disaster zone in their wake.   It’s going to be a few days before everything is put back in its place…

I think that I’m going to try to go to the drive-in tomorrow night.  It’s my night to stay up, and I usually try to get to the drive-in at least once per summer.  The quality isn’t quite as good, but it’s all about the experience.  I would have enjoyed taking the kids to the drive-in while they were here, but there really wasn’t anything playing during that weekend that was appropriate for them.  It’s still fairly early in the season, though… so hopefully there will be time to get back again.  But it all depends on the weather, of course… and right now, it’s looking a little iffy.  But we’ll see.

That’s pretty much the extent of my random babble for this evening.  I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend, wherever you are.

Thanks for reading.
