I saw something incredible today.
I went for a drive, and was following behind a Suzuki Sidekick at 70 km/hr, when suddenly a large grey squirrel ran across the road. It all happened in the blink of an eye, but I swear I saw the squirrel run somehow between the front and rear driver’s side tires, then get caught in the draft underneath the vehicle, and do a 360 directly under the Sidekick, and then bolt the rest of the way across the road! If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I would never have believed it. Amazingly it managed to completely avoid the tires, and make it across safely. I pictured him changing his little squirrel drawers after he finally caught his breath!
As a side note, I decided to take the highway home, and just as the it was starting to get dark, I noticed a couple of cars parked on the side of the highway, and one car that was not parked flashing its lights at me as I approached. It took me a second to realize that the other driver was warning me of a large moose standing off the highway, eating supper. That is only the 4th moose I’ve ever seen, and by far the largest. It’s no wonder that these things destroy vehicles that collide with them.
